The ivory turtle palmette and stiff vine border is a key feature of Farahan rugs. Farahan gallery format carpets, mostly in the dark blue Herati pattern were a nineteenth-century mainstay of the Oriental rug industry, but this is much rarer and far more in sync with modern style trends.
