Antique Persian Kashan Carpet

An antique Persian Kashan carpet. Unlike the usual Kashan medallion carpets popular in the 20^th century, this well-woven central Persian town room size carpet has an allover textile-like pattern of reserves defined by strapwork in escutcheon and cartouche shapes, and filled with palmettes, open lozenges, vines and other small ornaments. all on a reddish-brown field. The pearl grey border features small flower filled octogrammes.
