An antique Persian Kashan rug. The pile stands erect in this small Kashan ruglet in the souf technique. The sandy beige flat woven ground supports a verdant central flowering plant, a colorful bird and two bitonally fluted columns upholding a cusped and stepped arch. The pile flowers in reds and blues of the main border nearly obscure the souf flat weave foundation.
