Antique Persian Kurdish Bidjar Oversize Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. A doubled ecru-to-warm-ivory border, featuring rosettes within chevrons in rust-red, brown, olive, and muted grey-blue, frames the dove-grey to warm-greige field. The field is organized by a curving, barbed ogival lattice enclosing stylized flowers in rust-red, muted coral, taupe, soft brown, olive-grey, and occasional pale blue-grey. The relatively simple design seems unusual for an urban workshop and may instead have originated in a rustic village shop as a special order.
