Antique Persian Lavar Kerman Carpet

An antique Persian Lavar Kerman carpet. This opulent SE Persian city Kerman copies closely, both in overall proportions, gold, and blue tonality and in the faithfulness of rendition, the famous Ardebil Mosque Carpet in London from 1539. The gold sunburst medallion and matching quarter corners have ogival pendants and the deep blue field is densely layered with palmettes and arabesques. Smaller than the 35-foot long original, this over-size carpet is ultra-classical, totally aristocratic and utterly “Persian” in the best sense of the word.
