Antique Persian Mahal Carpet

An antique Persian Mahal carpet. More a Sultanabad than a standard-issue Mahal. The light field displays an asymmetric allover array of vigorous leaves and mobile petal and ragged palmettes.  The sky blue border has a finely detailed rendition of the in-and-out turtle palmette pattern. Definitely a cut above the usual Mahal productions and in general a very attractive carpet.
