An antique Persian Mahal carpet. The abrashed putty toned field sports a version of the allover Herati pattern: with the open lozenges, but lacking the “fish” leaves. Instead, palmettes have been added to the floral mix in this western Persian decorative village carpet from the Sultanabad district. The chocolate brown border packs tightly its geometric palmettes.
