An antique Persian Mahal carpet. There are three vertical design axes with rosette bosses and angular undulating vines on the closely decorated warm madder red field of this Persian size Mahal. While we prefer eight by ten, the Persians go with seven by ten. The pattern works really well in this format. The detached turtle palmettes of the light green border seem to be from a different design universe.
