An antique Persian Mahal runner handmade during the early 20th century. The open blush-beige open central panel is framed by an ivory main border decorated by a faceted undulating vine embracing simple palmettes. Totally open fields such as this are quite rare in antique oriental rugs. There is just this urge to put something, anything, to break up the simple elegance.
