An antique Persian Malayer carpet. The ivory field displays eight offset rows of softly hexagonal shaped panels, each enclosing a double floral motif. This is one of the most striking of Malayer patterns, appearing on scatters and large carpets alike. The slate blue main border shows palmettes and various types of floral sprays while the ivory minor has the popular boteh and angular vine in the Serabend manner.
