A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This unusual piece has an abrashed slate field displaying two implicit columns, each composed of three modules featuring a single shield-shaped palmette embraced by torn, elongated V-shaped leaves. Lazy petal palmettes, broken short stems, and upright daisy flowers further enliven the pattern. The strip-style red border shows a unique stencil pattern of geometric leaves, arabesque acanthus, and arcane plain vegetal ornaments.
