An antique Persian Malayer rug. The hexagonal slate field with sawtooth edged displays boteh-palmettes in half-drop rows. The botehs have lost their final “tongues”, rendering them symmetric and non-directional. The triangular mustard-brown corners show rows of simple curved leaves on this west Persian village scatter.
