An antique Persian Malayer rug. This is a particularly finely woven Malayer of the Mishan subtype with a large lobed and pointed leafy medallion on a notably abrashed blue field, with buff corner pieces. Medallion Malayers owe some of their design aspects to the Farahan-Sarouks woven just to the east. The rug is thin and velvety in texture and is of a higher quality than the usual Malayer standard.
