An antique Persian Sarouk carpet. The rose-brown field displays a small, fringed ogival meallion with conforming sub-medallions with an ensemble of large sickle leaves, ragged palmettes and lateral palmettes with broad strapwork ‘wings’. The elements are well-spaced and imaginative. The salmon border features two-tone open flowers. This well-woven Sultanabad area town carpet is definitely unusual among the standard Sarouk production.
