Antique Persian Kerman Carpet

An antique Persian Kerman carpet. The 17th-century “Vase” carpets were from Kerman and this modern example with its six columns of diagonal palmettes is a worthy descendant. The cochineal red ground is typically SE Persian Kerman. The cloud band and complex palmette border also have classical roots. This is a superb dining room large carpet. wide enough for table and chairs, and the elaborate pattern hides the inevitable accidents well.
