An antique Persian Serab runner. The wide plain camel-tone outer border makes one initially think ‘Serab” as attribution, but this west Persian kellegi format village carpet is structurally and design-wise a Hamadan product. The grey-blue field displays an allover repeat of fat cartouches in ivory and dark brown anchoring rosettes. The light blue-grey border is adorned with a rosette and slanted leaf pattern. True Serabs do not employ this border, but Hamadans certainly do.
