An antique Persian Shiraz rug. The Khamseh tribes operate around Shiraz city in southwest Persia and identifying features of their rugs include: confronting stylized bird minor borders; chickens and dogs and other tiny animals everywhere; pole medallions enclosing symmetrized ‘turtle’ palmettes; and botehs in both border and field. All these figure here on the brown subfield of this authentic nomadic scatter.
