A vintage Persian Malayer rug. This strongly delineated west Persian village scatter has a slightly abrashed charcoal field with eyed ‘fish’ leaves, petal palmettes, stiff stems, and a central organizing rosette. The broad ecru border shows mosaic rosettes embraced by sickle leavers and with intervening floral sprays. An interesting piece with a secondary palette of straw, red-brown and rust, and no blues. A Malayer with true character.
