Antique Persian Sultanabad Carpet

An antique Persian Sultanabad carpet. Although blue is not the field or border color, it still is strongly featured as light, medium and dark tones filling field palmettes or outlining turtle motives in the border. Small palmettes and leaves are arranged in a large allover repeat on the brown-red field. The pattern is more delicate and therefore less common than the more usual large scale Sultanabad palmette motives.
