Antique Persian Sultanabad Carpet

An antique Persian Sultanabad carpet. This well-detailed large west Persian special commission carpet features a sandy ivory field neatly covered with a pattern of vertically repeating filigree octogrammes and pinched medallions in Sienna and buff. The field reserves resemble turtle palmettes.  Further oval palmettes decorate both the medallions and reserves. The cream main border shows a rosette and filigree arabesque design. Like most antique Sultanabads, this carpet seems to be unique in design. The palette is slightly soft and most accommodating. Allover pattern Sultanabads are among the most desirable of all antique Persian decorative mansion size carpets.
