Antique Persian Tabriz Carpet

An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. The “Vase Carpet” pattern, here on a red ground, of diagonally placed palmettes in a multi-level vinery trellis never gets old and Tabriz weavers never get tired of creating variations on this traditional theme. Four columns of characteristic palmettes define the almost allover pattern with iris-style palmettes in the field corners.  The attractively abrashed royal blue border features more styles of palmettes. An attractive play on a classic type.
