Antique Persian Tabriz Carpet

An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. The well-covered dark graphite field displays large, ragged escutcheons with bitonal rosette centers, smaller, symmetric palmettes, cartouches and quatrefoils with a small floriated pattern filling the interstices.  A few of the larger motives are in a darker red-brown. Very different from the usual run of Tabriz carpets.
