An antique Persian Tabriz Hagi Jalili carpet. This is a beautifully detailed NW Persian urban carpet from the desirable ‘Hajji Jalili’ period in Tabriz, with a charcoal field displaying an elaborately delineated “Vase carpet” allover pattern of varicolored petal palmettes, iris amphora palmettes, rosettes, a multi-planar vinery trellis and many interesting minor devices. The main border displays cypresses alternating with palmettes, all among leafy vines. The weave is quite fine, neat and regular, and the pile is short and crisp. A unique narrow and long carpet.
