An antique Persian Tabriz rug. The slightly scalloped ivory field is decorated by flowering vines, and centers a pendanted , pointed elliptical medallion, also with a gently lobed edge. The corners and medallion are both in dark brown with fine matching floriated patterns. The main border employs the usual palmettes along with tilted “butterfly” motives. The weave is quite fine, the pile is brushy and erect, and the drawing is well executed on this iconic NW Persian city scatter.
