An antique Persian Tabriz rug. Dated 1304 (1887) and inscribed, this extremely rare Tabriz scatter displays a central beige cartouche gripped by four human hands emerging from angular arabesques, all on a blue-black ground. The pattern continues to the field ends with ivory and sky blue arched sections. A millefleurs stem and small flower pattern occupies the rest of the field and a midnight blue border of octofoils and minutely stepped octagons frames the uniquely bizarre, but interesting, composition. Four blue-grey birds also feature.
