Antique Persian Bakhtiari Large Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The field is entirely composed of a tile pattern of indented diamonds depicting cypresses, botehs, weeping willows, wisterias, blossoming palmettes, and other shrubs and plants, set within panels of ecru, sand, straw, chocolate, slate, and red. An ecru-sand strip-style border with palmettes, serrated leaves, and rosettes frames the piece. An unusual border.
