An antique Persian Afshar rug from the early 20th century. Vaguely insectoid unidirectional palmettes in mostly red and blue are displayed in seven rows on the eggshell ground. This is a classic SE Persian Afshar design seen on saddlebags and scatter rugs alike. The narrow borders both display simplified palmette patterns. The weave is moderately close and the handle is firm.
