Vintage Persian Afshar Throw Rug

Two sienna volute ashiks are vertically set at the ends of the sandy straw field with flanking fat pale grey-blue crosses. The ashiks may descend from vases on earlier Afshar pieces. A pair of dark brown “wing” leaves accents the field. The border is generally pale, but bits of sienna brown pop up at one end and along bits of the sides. Moderate weave. Cotton foundation.
