A vintage Persian Mahal rug. At each corner is a camel-toned reindeer while the rest of the rose-brown field displays small rosettes and two mask-like palmettes. White cotton is frequently employed as an eye-catching detail tone. Generously antlered reindeer are not native to Persia and one wonders how and when this motif was picked up.
