A vintage Turkish Anatolian pictorial rug. A mosque and minaret stand in the upper half of the field. An “Allah” inscription and a crescent moon with star make the identification sure. A wall with a prayer-niche shaped panel with star marks the religious compound. The interlocking ‘S’ border is found on eastern Anatolian Kurdish ‘Yuruk’ rugs and this might be one of theirs.
