An antique Persian Tabriz Square carpet. This northwest Persian city carpet of medium fine weave shows that the “Vase carpet” classical pattern of vertical and diagonal palmettes works well in any format, The blue-grey ground supports two side by side columns of similar design of striped palmettes and two levels of a fine foliate lattice. The rust border of palmettes and lancet leaves is fully in the urban style.
