An antique Turkish Ghiordes rug. This open niche scatter is probably from Melas on the Aegean Turkish coast. The light salmon-buff niche is set beneath ivory small spandrels. The two lozenge-rosette main borders are classically Melas in origin. Unlike most Turkish rugs, this piece eschews bright primary tones for a more subdued palette.
