A modern Persian Qashqai rug. This somewhat worn, but chromatically amazing scatter could be Khamseh from the same south Persian region (Shiraz), especially with all the chickens and tiny dogs. Stars and a tiny octagonal lattice define the field and another lattice fragment is nested in the central hexagonal panel. Stars, botehs and rayed small lozenges decorate the borders while at each end is a red and black chessboard section with little lozenges dotted in goldenrod and ivory.
