A vintage American Braid rug. This multicolor flat carpet is composed of innumerable horizontal rag strips, mostly from garments, held together by the cotton warps. Technically it is not braided but is a true rag rug. No two rag carpets are identical given the constantly changing selection of rags and the ingenuity of the weaver. The light informality and easy maintenance make it a good choice for a summer cottage or beach house.
