Vintage Central Asian Turkoman Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a wool foundation. This solidly woven tribal piece displays three columns of seven octagonal Ongurghe guls in soft blue-grey, ivory, taupe, light brown, and muted slate on a pale beige-to-taupe field, with small lattice-like sekis-kelle-sagdak minor guls filling the intervening spaces. The taupe-brown to grey-brown main border features ashiks enclosed within open hexagons, accented in muted blue-grey and ivory.
