A vintage English Needlepoint carpet. Yellow grounds (both field and border) are quite rare in European needlework rugs. Here a 5 by 5 array of interlocking twisted blue circles is set comfortably amid small detached floral forms. This latter appear in the circles as well. The twisted ribbon border with its own small flowers adds to the recherche unity of this most attractive piece.
