A vintage French Leleu carpet. The brick red field displays a close lozenge lattice whose cells contain various foliate elements. This is set within a wavy ivory surround and an outer piecrust edge greenish frame. The rug has the “Moderne” look of the 1950s and was woven in a workshop in the Aubusson region for the Leleu design firm.
