A vintage Persian Bakhtiari Bag Face. This soumak weave and knotted pile large bag is a true nomadic creation of the migratory Bakhtiari tribes immediately to the west of the Zagros mountains in central Persia. The small navy field displays two joined red ashik medallions. White cotton and green wool soumak borders create a broad frame. At the bottom is a knotted pile “bumper” with a loosely drawn repeating hooked cross pattern. The colorful closure tabs at the top are intact.
