Vintage Persian Shiraz Pictorial Bag

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Wool added fringe and wool tassels. Probably the work of a Qashghai woman, this delightful chanteh presents a brisk medium blue field with a tawny lion leaping over a couchant ecru gazelle. Although the suspension cord is lacking, the inventiveness of the weaver, probably working with left over yarn bits from making more substantial rugs, is evident.
