A vintage Persian Bakhtiari carpet. This professionally executed carpet from the Char Mahal weaving area in west-central Persia has a claret ground with a biaxially symmetric pattern of flower-filled lozenges and weeping willows in a quasi-Joshegan style. The ecru main border displays tilted spools and squared palmettes. This well-woven piece may have originated in Shal Mazar village, reputed to be the best center in the district.
