Vintage Persian Gabbeh Throw Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. By eliminating one field color, you get a cascade of broad zigzags in medium blue, teal, coral red, and ecru, running continuously from end to end. The narrow ecru border features a zig-zag ribbon with small bud projections, while the bitonal reciprocal triangle outer border adds contrast. This is Qashghai tribal work, originally made for household use.
