A vintage Persian Isfhan Pictorial rug. This finely woven, semi-pictorial urban ruf displays a broad, bright red scallop topped niche field with pairs of cypresses, axes and ewers (surahis). Peacocks adorn the spandrels, and inscription cartouches are set above and below the field and in the beige border. A dervish’s begging bowl (kashkul) is one of the elements suspended from the arch’s apex.
