Vintage Persian Kerman Rug

A vintage Persian Kerman rug. Resembling in overall pattern the small scale mosaic inlays on traditional Middle Eastern furniture, a tall, pendanted lozenge medallion is set on a four direction bitonal striped chevron field in ivory, teal and navy, and framed by a mosaic patterned wide border in navy and beige. The design of this intricately executed room size city carpet draws on a long Islamic design tradition but renders it in a more modern form.
