A vintage Persian Kurdish runner. This dark charcoal brown ground Kurdish runner copies the Khamseh tribal Persian design of four serrated leaves forming a broken octagon. Here the design is repeated 16 times vertically instead of as an allover field pattern on a scatter rug. The Khamseh effect is strengthened by the diagonally striped minor borders, but the dark wool wefts, the format and general texture move it decisively into the Kurdish camp.
