Vintage Persian Malayer Carpet

A vintage Persian Malayer carpet. There are triangular corner sections only at one end of the abrashed slate field of this west Persian village long, long kellegi format carpet. The field displays stepped cruciform, serrated and other palmettes and, ‘fish’ leaves an assortment of other semi-stylized devices.  The ivory border has four-armed simple diamonds that evolve unto eccentric turtle palmettes toward the upper end of the carpet.
