A vintage Persian Malayer carpet. A close allover scatter array of small palmettes, rosettes, leaves, and blossoms fill the taupe field of this west Persian “Mahalayer” town carpet. We term these “Mahalayers” because although the pattern is strongly reminiscent of 1930’s Mahals, the origin lies in the town of Malayer, nearer Hamadan than Arak/Sultanabad, the home of the true Mahal. Call it as you wish, we have the broadest stock of these very versatile room size carpets.
