A vintage Persian Malayer carpet. The dark slate ground is neatly covered by a close Herati pattern while the border has a needlepoint effect in the outlines of red profile flowers and smaller intermediate diamonds on an ivory ground. Small pairs have been pairwise inserted into the side main border by the village woman weaver.
