A vintage Persian Malayer rug. Eight offset rows of flowering plants growing from shallow pots and partially encircled by floriated garlands neatly cover the charcoal ground of this moderately well-woven scatter from the Malayer weaving district in western Persia. The blue-grey border displays a thin vine with round flowers and buds. This border repeat is popular in Bidjar, Kurdish and Afshar rugs, to name a few, as well as Malayers.
