Vintage Persian Malayer Rug

A vintage Persian Malayer rug. The bluish graphite field is centered by a column of closely set fringed diamonds enclosing rosettes or palmettes. More rosettes and schematic, bent ‘fish’ leaves fill in around the sides of this ultimately Herati-originated pattern. Dark brown accents are particularly notable in the border system with its forked tendril and palmette outlines.
