An antique Indian Agra rug. A sandy beige main border of quadruple square volutes arranged into larger squares and discretely repeated frames the allover field pattern of camel-toned small squares lattice enclosing round rosettes in each cell. The pattern of this northern Indian workshop scatter is purely geometric and the only curvilinear parts are the ‘S’s’ in the secondary borders.
